About the author.
I’m Mike Donahue, photographer as well as graphic and web designer located in South Florida. I got my first camera for my fifteenth birthday, a Canon AV-1 and have been shooting ever since. About 10 years ago I decided to get more serious about my photography. I went back to school and took classes to help me better understand the fundamentals of good photography. Since then I’ve continued my education through workshops, seminars and private instruction.
In 2006 I made the switch to digital and began a new era of photographic growth. My subject of choice is nature and wildlife photography. I am the founder and organizer of one the largest photography groups in South Florida. The South Florida Nature and Wildlife Photography Meetup Group has more then 450 members and is growing daily. The group is open to photographers of all abilities and is free to join.
Through the photography group I have begun a series of workshops targeted at teaching photography fundamentals like exposure, white balance, depth-of-field and more. I really enjoy the experience of sharing what I’ve learned with others. This has been the catalyst to teaching Photoshop classes at continuing education through the Palm Beach school system. I am also teaching advanced workshops at remote locations outside of South Florida.
While my passion lies in nature and wildlife photography, I continue to explore many other subjects. Currently, I have been using my photographic skills to bring product photography in-house for my current employer. I have also had sucess as an architectural and event photographer and have been working on breaking into sports and portrait photography. The unique challenges that each of the subjects pose drives me to continue my growth as a photographer.
