This past May I had the privilege of helping lead a workshop for artist near Bozeman, Montana with my friend Val Warner. Val is an amazing wildlife artist who’s paintings grace some the most respected galleries across the country.
The main photo here is a just one of many images shot with using HDR in mind. I took it one step further by trying to see if it was possible to take handheld HDR image. It takes a steady hand and enough light to keep up a fast enough shutter speed to prevent camera shake, bat as you can see it can be done.
I will finish this post shortly.

Well, I only put up this Wordpress powered blog a month ago and it’s already getting spammed. I’m already starting to look for an alternative. Drupal seemed an interesting choice but I’m concerned I’ll have the same issues with another of the shelf CMS for blogging.
If anyone know of any good validation plugins to prevent bogus commenting I’d love to hear about it. That’s all for now. I need to start reading up on CakePHP.

I’m testing a blogging tool that may make it easy enough for create blogs that I just may be able to do it on regular basis. This is my first post using the tool to see how well it integrates with Wordpress.
This is only a test to see how well MacJournal does with posting entries that include photos in them. I am co leading a wildlife photography workshop for artists in May and plan to maintain a daily update of the trip. The attached photo comes from a similar workshop that I participated in a couple years ago.
Everything seems easy enough. Well let’s see how this does.
Next up, posting through email.

Welcome to my photo blog. Please check back soon for new entries. I plan to start posting stories about everything photography. Travel logs and locations to shoot, workshops, teaching and tutorial, equipment and software discussions and anything else that comes to mind.
My name is Mike Donahue and I’m a photographer. Sounds a bit like an intro at an AA meeting. Sometimes photography feels like and addiction. When I’m not doing it I’m thinking about doing, I spend too much money to do it and I can hardly wait until the next time I can do it. Maybe I should start a Photographers Anonymous group to help others with this addiction.
I hope this blog will become a resource for others looking to find out more about photography.
Welcome,
Mike
